An outcall massage is simply a massage session where the massage therapist goes to your home, vacation rental, or office for the treatment. The therapist brings the massage table, sheets, lotions and oils, and music. Some regular outcall clients even have some or all of those items already on-site.
Here are some preparation tips to make your outcall massage even more enjoyable. First, make sure you have enough space. Most portable massage tables are slightly smaller than the size of a “single”-sized bed. Your therapist will need some room to maneuver around the table, at least a foot (about 0.3m) on each side. That being said, there should be at least an 8′ (2.4m) long by 5′ (1.8m) wide rectangle of space, free of any obstructions, where the massage will take place. Second, it’s best if your session takes place in a relatively quiet and relaxing environment. Children and pets are wonderful creatures, but they can also be wonderfully curious and usually don’t mix very well if you desire a totally relaxing experience. If you are staying close to the ocean or to a beach, you can open lanai doors and windows and let the sounds of the waves add to the ambiance. In fact, here on Maui, many of our clients forgo any music during their massage, and prefer instead the sounds of the sea. Lastly, before your appointment, freshen up with a shower. You and your therapist will be most comfortable if you are clean!
